EQL Races — Racial Unlock Guide

How to unlock every playable race in EverQuest Legends: the Untapped Potential achievements, the factions to max, and the fastest known methods — race by race.

Attribution: this guide is compiled from Alanna's Race Unlock Guide on the EverQuest Legends Wiki. All faction numbers, quest names, NPC names, and methods below come from her guide — we have reorganized them for the guild, not rewritten them. How Race Unlocks Work Start here

Races are unlocked by completing their respective achievement in the Races subsection of the Untapped Potential achievements. All races except Kerran require you to reach maximum faction with a short list of factions — usually the town guards, the merchants, and one class faction. You are automatically granted the achievement if you start as that race, and Race Unlock Tokens purchased from the store can bypass the requirements entirely.

The achievements check your completion of the faction-specific achievements found under EverQuest > Progression in the achievement menu. You earn those by reaching +2000 personal faction with each associated faction. You do not need all the factions maxed at the same time.

Two hard rules in EQL: you cannot charm mobs to trade quest items, and you cannot multiquest items.

How Faction Works (Quick Reference) Mechanics

Faction is a number between −2000 and +2000 built from several modifiers: personal faction (your actions; starts at 0, EQL's minimum positive gain is +5), race, class (EQL uses the highest of your three classes — note the Faction Standings window has a bug where it only uses your primary class), deity (not yet implemented in EQL; agnostic is usually safest), spells, zone, and NPC modifiers. They are added together and capped at ±2000 to decide how an NPC reacts to you.

Faction levelConsider messageRangeNotes
Ally"regards you as an ally"+1100 to +2000
Warmly"looks upon you warmly"+750 to +1099
Kindly"kindly considers you"+500 to +749
Amiable"is amiable"+100 to +499
Indifferent"is indifferent"0 to +99
Apprehensive"is apprehensive"−100 to −1Worse vendor sale prices
Dubious"glowers dubiously"−500 to −101Vendors won't sell to you
Threatening"glares at you threateningly"−750 to −499Enemies attack, reduced aggro range
Ready to Attack"scowls at you, ready to attack"−2000 to −749Enemies attack on sight

Spells that shift faction

  • Enchanter Alliance: +100
  • Enchanter Benevolence: +200
  • Enchanter Collaboration: +300
  • Bard Cinda's Charismatic Carillon: +120 to +660 by level and wind instrument mod, capped at +300

Faction tricks

  • Change your loadout — race, class, or deity can be swapped any time you're in town.
  • Illusions — mostly for race changes; many factions are neutral to non-player illusions.
  • Sneak — behind NPCs they con indifferent; beware dialogue that turns them to face you.
  • Feign Death — everything cons indifferent; trade requires feigning after opening trade.
  • Invisibility — sets faction to indifferent but blocks dialogue; use Innate Camouflage AA or Cloudy Potions.
  • Lulls — don't change faction but shrink aggro range; many quests have no faction requirement to turn in.
  • Line of sight — mobs that can't see you can't attack you; abuse corners for turn-ins.

Useful classes to level for faction work

Bard (sneak, faction song, invis, lull, run speed), Beastlord (invis, run speed), Cleric (lulls), Druid (invis, wolf form, Harmony, ports, run speed), Enchanter (Alliance, illusions, invis, lulls), Monk (sneak, FD), Necromancer (invis, FD, skeleton illusion), Paladin (lulls, horse), Ranger (sneak, invis, Harmony, run speed), Rogue (sneak, hide), Shadow Knight (invis, FD, horse), Shaman (invis, run speed), Wizard (invis, ports). You can always swap to rogue for sneak, enchanter for illusions, or druid/shaman/bard for speed.

Getting around fast

  • Boots of the Long Road — tutorial or Adventuring Supply Merchant (~14–17 plat); clicky run speed.
  • Spirit of Wolf — beastlord, druid, ranger, shaman; doesn't break in combat.
  • Selo's Accelerando — bard song; fastest travel with a drum.
  • Mounts — very fast outdoors, slight acceleration lag.
  • Athletics — the skill replacing old run-speed AAs; high levels run at SoW speeds unbuffed.
  • Ports / Evacuate — wizard and druid teleports; changing difficulties also teleports you to the zone evac point every 5 minutes out of combat.
  • Origin — home city teleport, 18-minute cooldown.
  • Translocators — boat docks; free before level 20 in any class. EQL adds a direct Qeynos ↔ Freeport route (East Freeport ↔ Ocean of Tears ↔ Butcherblock; East Freeport ↔ South Qeynos; South Qeynos ↔ Erud's Crossing ↔ Erudin Palace).
Barbarian Halas factions
EverQuest barbarian character model

Barbarian

Requirements

  • Maximum faction with Rogues of the White Rose
  • Maximum faction with Wolves of the North
  • Maximum faction with Merchants of Halas

Recommended method

  1. Complete the Lion Meat Shipment Quest 200 times.
  2. Turn in the resulting 200 Lion Delight to Iceberg.

Lion Meat Shipment: bind in front of Teria O`Danos across the lake in Halas, travel to the Western Plains of Karana, and say "delivery" to Einhorst McMannus in the barbarian fishing village until your inventory is full of Lion Meat Shipments. Gate back to Teria and turn them in 4 at a time for 4 Lion Delights each round: Merchants of Halas +10, Wolves of the North +7, Shamen of Justice +7, Rogues of the White Rose +5. Repeat until at least +1000 faction with Rogues of the White Rose. (Warning: Lion Delights are food — keep them below your normal food so you don't eat them.)

Iceberg: find him in the Everfrost Peaks tundra and hand over all accumulated Lion Delights in a single trade. Each one returns a Sweaty Shirt plus: Wolves of the North +5, Shamen of Justice +5, Merchants of Halas +5, Steel Warriors +5, Rogues of the White Rose +5. Warning: Iceberg despawns when given a Lion Delight, so do the whole batch at once.

Travel tip from Alanna: level wizard to 23 and use bard speed or a knight mount; West Karana Gate plus Lesser Evacuate to the Qeynos Hills line shortens the run to Einhorst considerably.

Alternative methods

  • Gnoll Fangs — give Lysbith McNaff in Halas 3 Gnoll Fangs: Wolves of the North +15, Shamen of Justice +5, Merchants of Halas +5, Steel Warriors +5, Rogues of the North +5. 1200 fangs completes the achievement; very slow, but also raises Jaggedpine Treefolk / Silent Fist Clan.
  • Mammoth Calf Hides — give 4 Mammoth Calf Hides to Cappi McTarnigal in Halas: Rogues of the North +5. Roughly 1600 mammoth calf kills to max.
Dark Elf Neriak factions
EverQuest dark elf character model

Dark Elf

Requirements

  • Maximum faction with Dreadguard Inner
  • Maximum faction with Dreadguard Outer
  • Maximum faction with Dark Bargainers

Recommended method

Do the Bottle of Red Wine quest 400 times: buy 400 bottles of Red Wine, go to Lokar To`Biath in Neriak Third Gate (requires indifferent), and hand them over. Each bottle: Dreadguard Inner +5, Dreadguard Outer +5, Dark Bargainers +10.

Alternative methods

Book of Turmoil Quest (requires indifferent with Dark Bargainers) — give 70 gold to Lokar To`Biath for a Note (Dreadguard Inner +5, Dreadguard Outer +5, Dark Bargainers +10), then take it to Rysva To`Biath in Neriak Commons for a new Note (same hits). Stop there — you'll break even on Dark Bargainers and have to wait on respawns if you kill Lokar. Costs about 1400 plat to max Dreadguard Inner/Outer this way.

Dwarf Kaladim factions
EverQuest dwarf character model

Dwarf

Requirements

  • Maximum faction with Storm Guard
  • Maximum faction with Merchants of Kaladim
  • Maximum faction with Kazon Stormhammer

Recommended method

Do the Tumpy Tonics quest 400 times. Buy 800 Kiola Nuts from Cleonae Kalen in the Ocean of Tears (evil races/classes can run the Muffin for Pandos quest to raise her faction first) and 800 Flasks of Water from any merchant. Either hand 1 water + 1 nut to Tumpy Irontoe 800 times or brew the tonics yourself (recommended — about 843 nuts and water once at trivial with no AAs). Give the tonics to Trantor Everhot for a Dwarven Wire and: Storm Guard +5, Kazon Stormhammer +5, Miners Guild 249 +5, Merchants of Kaladim +5, Craknek Warriors −1.

Alternative methods

Any standard dwarf quest works — EQL's +5 minimum faction makes them all viable: Crushbone Shoulderpads, Crushbone Belts, Runnyeye Warbeads (Kaladim Warrior), Rat Pelts.

Erudite Erudin / Paineel factions
EverQuest erudite character model

Erudite

Requirements

  • Maximum faction with Deepwater Knights
  • Maximum faction with High Council of Erudin
  • Maximum faction with Heretics

Recommended method

  1. Kill 400 kobolds.
  2. Do Kobold Molars (Good) with all the molars you loot.
  3. Kill Heretics in Paineel until Deepwater Knights is maxed.
  4. Do the first step of The Painting 400 times, minus your Kobold Molar completions.

Kobolds: every kobold kill in the Warrens and Stonebrunt Mountains: Heretics +5, High Guard of Erudin +5, Clan Kobolk −1 (−5/−10 for nameds). 400 kills maxes Heretics. Do not turn in Kobold Molars for Heretics faction — they hit Deepwater Knights −7.

Kobold Molars (Good): each molar to Tiam Khonsir: Deepwater Knights +7, High Council of Erudin +5, Heretics −1. 286 molars maxes Deepwater Knights (~1430 kobold kills); mix with killing Heretics. Each Atdehim kill ≈ 14 molars, and 20 kills counteract the loss.

Killing Heretics: Atdehim Sqonci is fastest but his gain was capped at +100 in a patch (Craftkeepers / Crimson Hands / Deepwater Knights / Gate Callers +100, Heretics −100). Regular Paineel guards give +10s; Guard Abrebla, Guard Ackin, Guard Ishvlor, Guard Mertanor, Guard Potren, Guard Sheltuin, Royal Guard Lilkus, and Royal Guard Sheltuin give +25s.

The Painting: Palatos Kynarn in East Freeport trades 4 Capt. Orlin's Spiced Ale for a Beacon Mount: Craftkeepers +5, High Council of Erudin +5, Heretics −1, High Guard of Erudin +5. Buy the ale from Nesin Tapper across the bar — 1600 ale minus 4× your molar turn-ins maxes High Council of Erudin.

Alternative methods

  • Kill Sentinels for Heretics (+45, but High Council of Erudin −45, High Guard −300, Merchants of Erudin −225) — not recommended in EQL; kobolds are better.
  • Catman Alliance — rolled-up cloth strips from Aderius Rhenar (Warrens prison) to Leraena Shelyrak (Erudin clerics' guild): Peace Keepers +5, High Council of Erudin +5, Heretics −1. Also raises Peace Keepers.
  • Erud's Tonic — Innoruuk's Kiss of Death from Geoard BlueHawk to Sinnkin Highbrow (Erudin library), then tonics to Nolusia Finharn or Moodoro Finharn (North Qeynos): Craftkeepers +20, High Council of Erudin +5, Heretics −3, High Guard of Erudin +5 per cycle.
  • Sealed Letters — first step of the Peacekeeper Staff quest, repeatable at amiable with Peace Keepers: Merchants of Erudin +5, High Council of Erudin +5, High Guard of Erudin +5. 400 cycles maxes High Council alone.
  • Wooden Shards — Small Lanterns to Jyle Windshot (West Freeport, ~90% shard rate), shards to Emil Parsini (Toxxulia Forest): Merchants of Erudin +5, High Council of Erudin +5, High Guard of Erudin +5 each.
Froglok Gukta factions
EverQuest froglok character model

Froglok

Requirements

  • Maximum faction with Protectors of Gukta
  • Maximum faction with Guktan Elders
  • Maximum faction with Guktan Suppliers

Recommended method

Give 800 Phosphorous Powder to Zok Zribb in the Rathe Mountains. The powder drops from high-level ghouls in the Ruins of Old Guk — near-100% double drops from dar, zol, and bok ghoul knights. Every two powder: Guktan Suppliers +5, Protectors of Gukta +5, High Council of Gukta +5, Lorekeepers of Gukta +5, Guktan Elders +5. Expect 400–500 ghoul kills; you'll likely take two classes to 50 doing it.

Alternative methods

Bone Chips — 4 Bone Chips to Dar Collector Reokar (Rathe Mountains): Citizens of Gukta +5, Protectors of Gukta +5, High Council of Gukta +5, Lorekeepers of Gukta +5, Guktan Elders +5. Gets everything except Guktan Suppliers — not very useful for the unlock since the powder maxes everything at the same pace.

Gnome Ak'Anon factions
EverQuest gnome character model

Gnome

Requirements

  • Maximum faction with King Ak'Anon
  • Maximum faction with Gem Choppers
  • Maximum faction with Eldritch Collective

Recommended method

Do the first part of Series C Black Boxes 400 times. You need amiable with Gem Choppers to start (Shondo and the Tonic is the fastest fix if you need faction). Tell Manik Compolten in Ak'Anon "new warrior" for a Shiny Card, trade it to any series C model (Alanna uses Clockwork XIIC) for their blackbox, delete the boxes, repeat. Each card: King Ak'Anon +5, Eldritch Collective +5, Gem Choppers +5, Dark Reflection −1, Meldrath −1. 400 cards maxes all three.

Alternative methods

  • Minotaur Horns — every 2 horns to Larkon Theardor (Ak'Anon): Eldritch Collective +20, Dark Reflection −3, The Dead −1, Gem Choppers +5, King Ak'Anon +5. 200 horns needed (1400–4000 minotaur kills; Steamfont mines have the best drop rate). Minotaur kills themselves also give Gem Choppers/King Ak'Anon faction.
  • Vasty Deep Ale — buy from Geoard BlueHawk (Erudin), give to Shondo Billin (Erudin Palace): Gem Choppers +10, Merchants of Ak'Anon +5, King Ak'Anon +5, Dark Reflection −2, Clan Grikbar −1. 400 maxes King Ak'Anon.
  • Necromancer hunting — killing The Dead in Neriak (or Dark Reflection anywhere) for Eldritch Collective.
Half Elf Unlock via Human/Wood Elf
EverQuest half elf character model

Half Elf

Requirements

Unlock Human or Wood Elf as a race.

Recommended method

Unlock Wood Elf or Humans (Qeynos). Alanna's guide has no further detail — this section is a two-line stub on the wiki.

Halfling Rivervale factions
EverQuest halfling character model

Halfling

Requirements

  • Maximum faction with Guardians of the Vale
  • Maximum faction with Merchants of Rivervale
  • Maximum faction with Priests of Mischief

Recommended method

  1. Bandages for Honeybugger 400 times — buy 400 Bandages, trade to Joogl Honeybugger in the Misty Thicket. Each: Merchants of Rivervale +5, Deeppockets +5, Guardians of the Vale +5, Mayor Gubbin +5, Coalition of Tradefolk Underground −1.
  2. Kill 400 goblins in Runnyeye — Pickclaw goblins give Guardians of the Vale +5, King Xorbb +5, Priests of Mischief +5 (plus Pickclaw Goblins −5); Misty Thicket/Kithicor/Butcherblock Runnyeye goblins give Guardians of the Vale +5, Storm Reapers +5, Storm Guard +5, King Xorbb +5, Priests of Mischief +5. Runnyeye has the best density; the Butcherblock NE camps suit new characters.

Alternative methods

  • Jillin's Stew — say "stew" to Blinza Toepopal, give Carrot Stew to Deputy Lowmot: Guardians of the Vale +5, Mayor Grubbin +5, Storm Reapers +5, Merchants of Rivervale +5, Dreadguard Outer −1. Slower, but adds Storm Reapers.
  • Cleric Supplies (old, not recommended) — wolf skins/pelts/berries to Beek Guinders in Rivervale: Priests of Mischief +5, Mayor Gubbin +5, Guardians of the Vale +5. About 400 skins + berries, 800 pelts, ~2000 wolves.
  • The Acolyte — needs amiable with Priests of Mischief; flesh items to Gapeers Johhanis (+5s). Not really worth the time.
High Elf Felwithe factions
EverQuest high elf character model

High Elf

Requirements

  • Maximum faction with Keepers of the Art
  • Maximum faction with Merchants of Felwithe
  • Maximum faction with Clerics of Tunare

Recommended method

  1. Muffin for Pandos 400× — buy 400 muffins from Pincia Brownloe (West Freeport), give to Pandos Flintside (KoS trick: hide in the adjacent room and trade via third-person camera). Each: Faydark Champions +5, King Tearis Thex +5, Clerics of Tunare +5, Soldiers of Tunare +5, Crushbone Orcs −1.
  2. First step of Hogcaller's Inn 400× — 400 White Wine from Swin Blackeye/Drona Whystlethin to Lady Shae (unique neutral faction). Each: Emerald Warriors +5, Indigo Brotherhood −1, Merchants of Felwithe +5, Merchants of Kelethin +5.
  3. Bat Wings 400× — buy 1600 Bat Wings, give to Niola Impholder in South Felwithe (needs indifferent). Every 4: Keepers of the Art +5, King Tearis Thex +5, Faydark Champions +5, The Dead −1.

Alternative methods

  • Small Lanterns to Jyle Windshot — same hits as Pandos; handy while grinding Erudin factions.
  • Shark Meat Quest — every 4 meat: Emerald Warriors +40, Indigo Brotherhood −6, Merchants of Felwithe +5, Kelethin Merchants +5. ~6800 shark kills needed; not recommended.
  • Necromancer hunting — killing The Dead also raises Keepers of the Art; not recommended, too easy to overshoot.
Human (Freeport) Freeport factions
EverQuest human character model

Human

Requirements

  • Maximum faction with Coalition of Tradefolk
  • Maximum faction with Freeport Militia
  • Maximum faction with Knights of Truth

Recommended method

  1. Tonics for Groflah 110× — 110 Kiola Nuts (Cleonae Kalen, Ocean of Tears) + 220 Flasks of Water into 110 Tumpy Tonics (via Tumpy Irontoe in South Kaladim or self-brewed); give to Groflah Steadirt (East Freeport dock bar, night, shared spawn). Each: Coalition of Tradefolk +10, Coalition of Tradefolk Underground +10, Knights of Truth +10, Merchants of Qeynos +7. (Only 100 needed for the factions, but grab a buff's worth of Knights of Truth for the next step.)
  2. Message Intercept 42× — give Mojax Hikspin (West Commonlands lake) a Bottle of Milk (needs amiable; hail him to lock him in place), kill the spawned Duggin Scumber 42+ times (each kill: Knights of Truth +5, Priests of Marr +5, Freeport Militia −2, Coalition of Tradefolk Underground −1), then give the notes to Sir Lucan D`Lere (West Freeport). Each: Freeport Militia +25, Coalition of Tradefolk Underground +5, Knights of Truth −2, Priests of Marr −2.

Alternative methods

  • Note for Janam — Beur Tenlah → Harkin Duskfoot → Janam Rekish round trip: Coalition of Tradefolk Underground +20, Coalition of Tradefolk +20, Carson McCabe +5, Corrupt Qeynos Guards +5, Freeport Militia +5 per cycle.
  • Slansin — needs amiable Craftkeepers (cannot run at max Craftkeepers; do a Heretics quest to lower it). Say "study enchantment" to Toresian Fhabel (Erudin Palace), fill up on Inert Potions, find Slansin in Vials of Vitality; the enchanter form gives Coalition of Tradefolk +5, Coalition of Tradefolk Underground +5, Carson McCabe +5, Corrupt Qeynos Guards +5, Freeport Militia +5.
  • Brandy to Captain Rohand — Merchants of Qeynos +25, Circle of Unseen Hands −5, Antonius Bayle +5, Coalition of Tradefolk +5, Guards of Qeynos +5; 400 brandy to max.
  • Milk for Mojax — needs amiable to Knights of Truth: +5 Knights of Truth, −1 Dismal Rage/Freeport Militia, +5 Steel Warriors/Priests of Marr. Fast, and good for Steel Warriors and Priests of Marr too.
  • Bard Reports — needs high dubious League of Antonican Bards; Jusean Evanesque → Anehan Treol/Behroe Dlexon round trip: +5 Knights of Truth per leg; 400 completions maxes Knights of Truth.
Human (Qeynos) Qeynos factions
EverQuest human character model

Human

Requirements

  • Maximum faction with Merchants of Qeynos
  • Maximum faction with Guards of Qeynos
  • Maximum faction with Corrupt Qeynos Guards

Recommended method

  1. Rohand's Brandy 400× — 400 Brandy to Captain Rohand. Each: Merchants of Qeynos +25, Circle of Unseen Hands −5, Antonius Bayle +5, Coalition of Tradefolk +5, Guards of Qeynos +5.
  2. Honey Mead for Trumpy 400× — buy 1600 Honey Mead; every 4 to Trumpy Irontoe (South Qeynos): Circle of Unseen Hands +5, Merchants of Qeynos −1, Corrupt Qeynos Guards +5, Guards of Qeynos −1, Kane Bayle +5. This trades guards/merchants for corrupt guards, and EQL's minimum faction change made it efficient.

Alternative methods

  • The Crate — needs +50 over indifferent with Guards of Qeynos. Say "arrows in this box" to Guard Weleth (North Qeynos gate) 40× for Crates of Defective Arrows → Nesiff Tallaherd (South Qeynos) for a Slip of Parchment (Merchants of Qeynos +5, Circle of Unseen Hands −1, Antonius Bayle +5, Coalition of Tradefolk +5, Guards of Qeynos +5); parchment back to Weleth: Guards of Qeynos +25, Antonius Bayle +5, Circle of Unseen Hands −3, Corrupt Qeynos Guards −6, Merchants of Qeynos +5.
  • The Crate (Evil) — same crates, parchment to Lieutenant Dagarok instead: Corrupt Qeynos Guards +25, Guards of Qeynos −3, Kane Bayle +5, Circle of Unseen Hands +5, Bloodsabers +5. Alternate good/evil to max everything affected.
  • Guard Shilster's Stout — 5 gold to Guard Shilster (North Karana) → Black Burrow Stout: Guards of Qeynos −1, Kane Bayle +5, Circle of Unseen Hands +5, Corrupt Qeynos Guards +5, Bloodsabers +5. Pricier than Honey Mead but useful for the Torrid Corruptor quest.
  • Bard Reports — 400 completions for Guards of Qeynos. Slansin — same as Freeport (max-Craftkeepers block applies).
Iksar Single faction
EverQuest iksar character model

Iksar

Requirements

  • Maximum faction with New Sebilisian Expedition (single faction)

Recommended method

  1. Trade Metal Bits to Crusader Iktra in North Ro until amiable — every 4 bits: New Sebilisian Expedition +5. Bits are crafted from 2 Small Pieces of Ore + 1 Water Flask (very low trivial; cheap to waste). Note: this quest stops working at amiable — Alanna saw it stop between +100 and +500 faction in testing.
  2. Trade Small Pieces of High Quality Ore to Crusader Iktra until maxed — each: +10. Made from Small Brick of High Quality Ore + Smithy Chisel → 2 pieces (low trivial cap — raise blacksmithing or grab blacksmithing AAs). Fine steel weapons + water flask in a forge make the bricks. Farming spots ranked: Solusek's Eye goblins (excellent), Highpass Hold / High Keep guards (guaranteed Fine Steel Short Sword; forges on site), Permafrost mid-high goblins; Runnyeye not recommended.

Alternative methods

Small Bricks of High Quality Ore straight to Iktra: +15 each, but costs climb past 2400 plat — break them down into pieces instead.

Kerran Task unlock — no faction grind
EverQuest kerran character model

Kerran

Requirements

Complete the Aid the Kerrans of Kerra Isle task — no faction maxing, unlike every other race.

Recommended method

  1. Hail any class GM in Kerra Isle to be assigned the task.
  2. Complete every quest on Kerra Isle: Feskr Drinkmaker (Feskr's Supplies), Urkath Greyface (Skunk Scent Gland), the Kerran tseq (Heretic's Toy), Feren (Razortooth), Roary Fishpouncer (Fish Dinner), Ailix (The Luck of Ailix), Shazda Asad (First + Second Test of Kejaar), Thalith Mamluk (Fang Tooth), Errrak Thickshank (Health Potion), The Kerran Sha`rr (Something is Wrrrong, This Means Warrr).

Work in progress: Alanna flags this section as a work in progress — "Most of the tasks are fairly straightforward and tell you where to go. The wiki quests are mostly out of date." Accept the task before working the island's quests; credit is not retroactive.

Faction note: Kerra Isle NPCs are on Kerra Isle faction. Most races start at −50, but Erudite, Dark Elves, Trolls, Ogres, and Iksar start at −1000; Shadow Knights and Necromancers also start at −1000 (mitigated by a third class), and worshippers of Bertoxxolous, Cazic Thule, or Innoruuk take another −1000. Anyone can reach indifferent by swapping to an agnostic wood elf once unlocked. Killing kobolds in the Warrens now also raises this faction, so it's easy to fix.

Racials: Sneak and Safe Fall. Playable classes: Bard, Berserker, Beastlord, Druid, Rogue, Shaman, Warrior. The Kerran joined EQL as a playable race with the July 28, 2026 launch-day patch.

Ogre Extreme grind warning
EverQuest ogre character model

Ogre

Alanna's warning, verbatim: "While technically obtainable, this will take an extreme amount of time. I recommend either starting as an Ogre or waiting until another method is added."

Requirements

  • Maximum faction with Oggok Guards
  • Maximum faction with Clurg
  • Maximum faction with Merchants of Oggok

Recommended method

Oggok Fresh Baked Muffin Quest 400×. Bake 4000 muffins — they must be baked (667 fruit with no failures; fruit can only be foraged, ~14.3% on a successful forage in clean pools). Get 135+ baking and the first baking AA, keep 200 foraging in your loadout, and forage on cooldown — Alanna estimates 70–80 hours of foraging. Don't eat any. Say "bake muffins" to Gretta Mottle (South Kaladim) for a Muffin Crate, combine 10 muffins per crate, and give full crates to an innkeeper in the Feerrott or Oggok. Each: Merchants of Oggok +5, Oggok Guards +5, Clurg +5. Foraging caps by class: druids/rangers reach 200 naturally; bards, wood elves, and iksar reach 100 with AA; shamans reach 90 with AA.

Alternative methods

  • Bags of Bread Loaves — Merchants of Oggok +5, Clurg +5, Oggok Guards +5 each. They drop off RunnyEye Citadel sporali at a low rate; ~20,000 kills for the 400 needed. Not feasible alone, but a nice bonus if they drop.
  • Stein of Moggok (10-step chain; maxes Clurg and Oggok Guards): 1. Te`Anara (Surefall Glade) "special potion" 20+× → Flasks of Nitrates (needs amiable; kill Blackburrow gnolls). 2. To Kimble Nogflop (Ak'Anon) → Regurgitonic (fakes possible). 3. To Frostbite (Western Plains of Karana) → Koalindl Fish, need 10. 4. 10 Kiola Nuts (Cleonae Kalen, Ocean of Tears). 5. Kill ~150 bixies → 30 Honeycomb. 6. 3 Honeycomb + 30 gold to Kizzie Mintopp → Honey Jum, 10×. 7. 10 Innoruuk's Kiss of Death (Geoard BlueHawk, Erudin). 8. To Sinnkin Highbrow (Erudin library) → 10 Erud's Tonic. 9. To Gregor Nasin (East Freeport): fish + honey jum + tonic + kiola nut → Barkeep Compendium, 10×. 10. To Clurg in Oggok (needs +50 into indifferent — illusion into an ogre or dark elf if short): each compendium → Stein of Moggok plus Clurg +50, Kazon Stormhammer −50, Green Blood Knights +50, Craknek Warriors +50, Oggok Guards +50.
Troll Grobb factions
EverQuest troll character model

Troll

Requirements

  • Maximum faction with Da Bashers
  • Maximum faction with Grobb Merchants
  • Maximum faction with Dark Ones

Recommended method

  1. More Help for Innoruuk 400× — farm 400 Deathfist Slashed Belts (Deathfist orcs; camps in East and West Commonlands, ~2000 kills); give to Bregna in Grobb for a Spirit Pouch scroll. Each: Dark Ones +5, Shadownights of Night Keep +5, Frogloks of Guk −1. Clear both zones plus a personal instance (and a separate difficulty) between respawns if uncontested.
  2. Nerbilik's Grub Locker 400× — tell The Gobbler (Neriak Foreign Quarter) "grub locker", fill your inventory, and give them to Nerbilik (Ocean of Tears). Each: Da Bashers +10, Grobb Merchants +5, Broken Skull Clan −1. Travel: translocator/boat from the Butcherblock dock, or levitate; bind near Nerbilik and port back (Wizard Nek Gate at 22, Druid Ring of Lavastorm at 22).

Alternative methods

Majik Power — farm 800 Bone Chips + 800 Froglok Tadpole Flesh; give 2 of each to Kaglari in Grobb → Burst of Flame scroll: Dark Ones +5, Shadownights of Night Keep +5, Frogloks of Guk −1.

Wood Elf Kelethin factions
EverQuest wood elf character model

Wood Elf

Requirements

  • Maximum faction with Emerald Warriors
  • Maximum faction with Soldiers of Tunare
  • Maximum faction with Kelethin Merchants

Recommended method

  1. Muffin for Pandos 400× — same as High Elf: 400 muffins from Pincia Brownloe (West Freeport) to Pandos Flintside: Faydark Champions +5, King Tearis Thex +5, Clerics of Tunare +5, Soldiers of Tunare +5, Crushbone Orcs −1.
  2. First step of Hogcaller's Inn 400× — same as High Elf: White Wine to Lady Shae: Emerald Warriors +5, Indigo Brotherhood −1, Merchants of Felwithe +5, Merchants of Kelethin +5.

No Bat Wings needed for wood elves.

Alternative methods

Alanna doesn't recommend anything else since it's so simple, but the High Elf alternatives work here too: Small Lanterns to Jyle Windshot, and the Shark Meat Quest (every 4 meat: Emerald Warriors +40, Indigo Brotherhood −6, Merchants of Felwithe +5, Kelethin Merchants +5 — ~6800 shark kills, not recommended).
