EQL Crafting
The guild's crafting reference: the twelve tradeskills, how skill-ups work, where to combine, and how to turn the forge into platinum.
This page summarizes community crafting knowledge as of September 2026. EQL tradeskill rules can change with patches; always verify recipes and trivials against the official patch notes and the linked guides before a big combine session.
1) Crafting in EverQuest Legends Core
EverQuest Legends carries forward classic EverQuest's tradeskill system: twelve tradeskills, learned from merchants and leveled by combining ingredients in the right container. If you can gather it, loot it, or buy it, someone in the guild can probably turn it into something useful.
Why craft
- Fill gear gaps while leveling, especially for solo and small-group play.
- Produce your own consumables: food, drink, and potions.
- Earn platinum selling finished goods other players always need.
- Become the guild's supplier for quest components and raid consumables.

Alchemy
Brews potions: run speed, invisibility, cures, and more. Covers gaps your class combination doesn't have — full guild guide: leveling path to 255, recipe reference, and money potions.
Shaman only · Guide live →Baking
Stat food and baked goods in an oven or on a spit. Pairs naturally with Fishing.
Guide live →Blacksmithing
Metal armor and weapons at the forge — full guild guide: fine plate recipes, trivials, dyeing, and the out-of-era racial cultural armor.
Guide live →Brewing
Drinks in a brew barrel. Early combines are cheap vendor ingredients; higher-end brews can buff your character.
Guide live →Fishing
Catch fish with a pole and bait. Many catches feed directly into Baking recipes.
Guide live →Fletching
Bows and arrows with a fletching kit. Every ranger and puller thanks you.
Guide live →Jewelcraft
Rings, earrings, necklaces, and bracelets. Universally wearable, universally desired — the S-tier money trade.
Guide live →Pottery
Fired ceramics, vials, and unfired components that other tradeskills consume.
Guide live →Research
Spell research components and runes for the casting classes.
Guide live →Tailoring
Cloth and leather armor, plus the bags and backpacks everyone needs. Full guild guide: the 1–250 leveling path, bag tables, armor sets, money recipes, and the out-of-era racial cultural armor.
Guide live →Tinkering
Gnomish gadgets and devices, from tools to toys to genuinely useful gizmos.
Gnomes only · Guide live →Make Poison
Rogue-applied poisons for extra damage and utility on every backstab.
Rogues only · Guide live →3) How the Trades Feed Each Other Trade web
No trade stands alone — most high-end recipes pull in two or three other tradeskills. Plan your skilling (and your friendships) around the web, not the single trade:
- Tailoring → Blacksmithing: leather padding (1 low-quality pelt + 1 silk thread, trivial 31) goes into every fine plate combine.
- Blacksmithing → Tailoring: steel boning for reinforced and studded armor; needles and thimbles for sewing kits.
- Pottery → Dyeing: resin and the medium clay jar that every armor dye is mixed in.
- Shaman Alchemy / Rogue Make Poison → Dyeing: the extracts that give each dye its color (trivial 36).
- Blacksmithing → Dyeing: the final dye combine happens in the forge — a smithing skill check.
- Blacksmithing → Fletching & Baking: metal bits become arrowheads; skewers, pots, and pans feed the kitchen trades.
- Fishing → Baking, Brewing → Tailoring (heady kiola for cured silk), and Enchanter → Jewelcraft (enchanted metals) round out the web.
See the full relay — including all 17 armor dyes — in the Blacksmithing guide.
4) Skill-Ups, Stats & Combines Mechanics
The governing stat
For most trades, your Intelligence or Wisdom, whichever is higher, governs your chance to gain a skill point on a combine — but not every trade follows that rule. Blacksmithing uses Strength, Intelligence, or Wisdom, whichever is highest. Check the rule for your trade, then buff up before a skilling session.
Failure is part of the process
- A failed combine keeps the container but loses the ingredients — buy materials in bulk and expect waste on the way up.
- Both successes and failures can grant skill-ups, so keep combining through the dry spells.
- Never stack items when combining; every component must be a separate item.
Workhorse recipes
The cheapest path up is usually one workhorse recipe per stretch, ideally built around a reusable or easily farmed component. The community leveling guides below map the full climb with trivials for each stage.
5) Stations, Containers & the Tradeskill Depot Workshop
Where to combine
- Oven or spit — Baking, found near tradeskill merchants in most towns.
- Brew barrel — Brewing, beside the brewing merchants.
- Forge — Blacksmithing, in cities and heavily trafficked areas.
- Kits — Fletching kits, jeweler's kits, and similar portable containers, some of which live in your inventory.
The tradeskill depot
EQL's tradeskill depot is a bank section that holds a huge stack of materials and lets you craft straight from it without hauling mats around. Park your components there and combine from anywhere the station allows.
6) Making Platinum Economy
Jewelcraft is S-tier
Jewelry is universally wearable and every character wants five to seven pieces (two rings, two earrings, a neck item, optionally bracelets). At high skill, platinum jewelry with strong stat combinations sells well — the king of tradeskill income. (Velium jewelry arrives with a future expansion.)
The Enchanter synergy
Enchanted metals produce jewelry with substantially better stats than unenchanted versions, and only Enchanters can enchant metals. If your class combination includes an Enchanter, you hold the most powerful crafting synergy in the game.
Steady sellers
- Alchemy potions — run speed and utility potions are always in demand.
- Bags and backpacks from Tailoring — every alt needs them.
- Food, drink, and arrows — the consumables everyone burns through.
